Student Policies
Attendance, conduct, punctuality, dress code, and completion policies students agree to as part of enrollment at Dayspring Driving School.
Attendance
Students are required to attend every scheduled classroom and behind-the-wheel session. Because Maryland MVA requires 30 hours of classroom and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction, missed sessions must be made up before a Certificate of Completion can be issued.
- Notify the school at least 24 hours in advance to reschedule any session.
- Missed sessions without 24-hour notice forfeit that session and may be subject to a make-up fee.
- Three or more unexcused absences may result in dismissal from the programme without refund.
Punctuality
Classes begin promptly at the scheduled time. Students arriving more than 10 minutes late may not be admitted to that session and will be counted absent. Behind-the-wheel appointments have a strict 15-minute grace window; after that the instructor must move to the next appointment.
Conduct
Dayspring Driving School expects respectful, focused participation from every student. During any session, students must:
- Treat instructors, staff, and other students with courtesy.
- Silence mobile devices and refrain from personal calls, texting, or social media use.
- Refrain from any use of alcohol, cannabis, or other impairing substances before or during instruction.
- Follow all instructor directions during behind-the-wheel training without exception.
The school reserves the right to dismiss a student without refund for conduct that endangers safety, repeated unexcused absences, or failure to comply with instructor directions.
Dress Code
Students should dress in comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing suitable for entering and exiting a vehicle. Closed-toe shoes with non-slip soles are required for behind-the-wheel sessions. Sandals, flip-flops, and heels are not permitted while operating the training vehicle.
Behind-the-Wheel Safety
All behind-the-wheel sessions take place in a dual-control vehicle operated by a certified instructor. Students must present a valid Maryland Learner's Permit at every session. Any medical condition, medication, or vision correction that could affect safe driving must be disclosed prior to the first BTW appointment. The instructor may terminate a session immediately if a safety concern arises.
No Call / No Show Fee
Students who fail to appear for a scheduled behind-the-wheel lesson or MVA Skills Test appointment without prior notice will be assessed an $80.00 No Call / No Show Fee. After payment, the student may schedule another appointment two (2) weeks later. No exceptions.
Completion Certificate
A Maryland MVA Certificate of Completion is issued only after all required classroom hours, all behind-the-wheel hours, and all tuition and fees have been paid in full. Dayspring is not responsible for delays in scheduling the MVA skills test after certificate issuance.
Payment & Refunds
Full payment is required to reserve a seat. Once a programme has started, tuition is non-refundable. Individual sessions may be rescheduled with 24 hours' notice; without notice, that session is forfeited. If Dayspring cancels a session due to weather or instructor availability, it will be rescheduled at no additional charge.
Parent / Guardian Involvement (Under 18)
Students under 18 must have a parent or guardian on file with contact phone and email. The parent or guardian may be contacted for scheduling, attendance, safety concerns, or any matter affecting completion of the programme.
